About
João Guilherme Bravo is a football photographer. Brazilian-born and based in Portugal, he spends his weeks moving between stadiums: the Luz, Alvalade, the Dragão, Braga, La Cartuja, St James’ Park. He shoots the game from as close to the pitch as it gets, chasing the decisive moment, the goal scream and the player on his knees at the final whistle.
The first World Cup
In 2025, João earned his first FIFA accreditation: the Club World Cup in the United States. He shot 14 matches across four cities, travelling by car, train and plane, ending with the final at MetLife Stadium and Chelsea lifting the trophy. His photos from that month ran in The New York Times (The Athletic), The Times, The Sun, CNBC and The Mirror US.
By the end of that year he had shot more than 150 matches in a single season, from the Champions League and the Portuguese league to national teams, in stadiums across Portugal, England, Belgium and the United States.
The 2026 World Cup
A year later he was back at MetLife for his first World Cup. More than 40 days away from home and 14 matches in five stadiums, from Houston to Miami, from Dallas to Atlanta: Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal, Neymar and Brazil’s exit, the England vs Argentina semi-final and Messi’s last World Cup in the number 10 shirt.
The tournament ended where the dream had started a year earlier: at MetLife Stadium on 19 July, João photographed the World Cup final, with Spain crowned champions.
Today
Back in Europe, João is on the European-nights circuit again: the Champions League, the Europa League, Portuguese derbies and the UEFA Super Cup. His photos have made the front page of A Bola and Diario AS, and he works with the Sports Press Photo agency.
Through Bravo Sports Media, he shoots matches on assignment in Portugal, England, Spain and Italy and licenses his photos to media outlets, clubs and brands. Every image on this site is his own work.
